Flirt

 

What is a Flirt?
Flirts are a way for members to "break the ice" and let you know that they liked your profile. Each time someone flirts at you, an email is sent to notify you of his or her interest!

How do I flirt at someone?
You can flirt at a member by pressing the “Flirt” button.

Where can I find a list of members who have flirted at me?
To find the list of members who have flirted at you in the last 30 days, visit your homepage and click on the New Flirts link next to your profile photo.

Is there a limit on how many times I can flirt at someone — or how many flirts I receive?
You can flirt at up to 50 different members each day (or every 24 hours). There is no limit on how many people can flirt at you daily.

How long are my flirts saved?
You can see the list of members who have flirted at you in the last 30 days, up to the last 200 flirts.

 

Favorite

 

What are my favorites?
Favorites are the names and profiles of up to 50 of the members you like most.

How do I add a member to my favorites?
Visit the member's profile, and click on the "Add to Favorites" link at top page.

How long will members remain in my favorites list?
Members will remain in your favorites list until you decide to delete them.

Why would a member I added to my favorites not appear in my list anymore?
Either you deleted the member from your list or the member’s profile has been removed.

Why does one of my favorites have a different username?
Members can change their username at any time. Your favorite must have changed his or her username.

How do I get to my favorites?
To find your list of favorites, visit your homepage and sort your Little Black Book by “Favorites”.

 

Message

 

I want to message someone – what do I do?
Once you've found someone you're interested in, click on “Message” on his/her profile display. Your homepage helps you keep track of who you've sent an email to and who’s sent an email to you.

I want to see who has sent me a message – what do I do?
Users can access messages by clicking the "Inbox" link. From that page, you will be able to access the message and profile of the person who sent you the message.

How do I know if I have a message?
On your homepage, there is a new message counter next to your profile photo. Click on it and it will take you directly to your inbox where the new messages are located.

How do I keep track of the conversation when messaging another user?
The messaging tool creates a conversation interface when a message is responded to. You can use this interface to reference previous messages and respond with a new message.

What is the trash folder for?
This is where you can send messages that you no longer need in your inbox or sent items.


SEARCHING
 

What is Search?
Search allows you to filter our community of singles and find the one you are looking for. Start with gender, age and postcode. Then customize your search with physical characteristics, lifestyles, backgrounds and values. Play around and try a variety of searches. You never know where you'll find the one for you.

Why am I not getting very many search results?
Review the criteria in your search. Is your search radius too small? Is your age range too tight? Open up your search and you might be pleasantly surprised by who you find.

Why am I receiving search results from everywhere?
If you're receiving search results from outside your requested area, make sure you've specified your distance preference in the About Me section of your profile.

How do I search for members who are online now?
Select the search criteria you'd like (gender, area, age range, etc.) on a Search and sort by "Most Recent Login." The users who are online now, will be at the top of the results and their status will show "Online Now".

How can I sort my search results?
When reviewing your search results, you'll see a pull-down menu of options for sorting your matches by Accuracy Rating, Most Recent Login, Age, Username, Newest User and Photo Count. You may also choose to see the results in detail view (more information per profile) or gallery view (basic information per profile).

 

LITTLE BLACK BOOK
 

What is my Little Black Book? How does someone get into my Little Black Book?
Your homepage provides a single view of all DownToEarth.com members you've received contact from, sent communications to, or simply added to your favorites list. If someone emails or winks at you, they'll appear as a new connection. If you email or flirt at someone, you can keep track of his/her response from the Little Black Book. And if you add them to your favorites list, they're added to the Little Black Book, too.

How can I see details about a profile in your Little Black Book?
Click on the profile and a detail view appears. You can see everything from their activity level to their complete profile.

How can I view my favorites, my winks, or my email?
We've provided "show" and "sort" options to let you control who you want to see by method of accuracy rating, communication, favorties and more.

How do I remove someone from my Little Black Book?
To remove a connection, click on the gray x next to the user's photo in the Little Black Book.

If I have "Removed" a person from my Connections page, how can I add them back?
You can add the person back to your Little Black Book by communicating (flirt or email) with them or by adding them to your favorites list.

 

REAL RATINGS™
 

What is RealRatings™?
We've created RealRatings™ so you can share your experiences with other members in a respectful way. RealRatings™ are all about proving a person is who they say they are, not how attractive some fake pictures are. It's our tool to keep the community as genuine and safe as can be.

When am I able to rate someone?
You are able to rate a user after a two-way message communication has been completed. However, you should not rate a user unless you have met them in person. It is important to meet someone is real life before you rate the overall accuracy of their profile.

How do I rate someone?
You can rate users from your homepage or from their profile display page. The option to rate a user will only appear after a two-way message communication has been completed.

Will a user be notified when I rate him/her?
The user will not be notified of your rating. Their overall rating will be immediately affected, so it is important that you meet users in person before giving them an overall rating.

How do I protest a rating?
If you feel that you have received ratings that were not directly related to the accuracy of your profile, you can send an email to support@DownToEarth.com and we will review your recent ratings.

We strive to present only profiles of real, honest people who are on DownToEarth.com for the right reasons. We rely on users like you to improve the overall DownToEarth.com experience for everyone. Thank you.

If you receive an inappropriate message or see a profile that seems suspicious in any way, please notify us. You can do this from any profile or conversation page. This information goes directly to and is reviewed by our Member Integrity Team. If someone receives enough complaints and/or is found, after careful review, to have posted a fraudulent profile, they will be blocked from the site.

If you feel this issue is very serious, please send us a detailed report by emailing us at abuse@DownToEarth.com.

When to Report a Concern
If anyone requests money
If anyone tries to sell you merchandise or services
If someone tries to offer you a job or another “unique opportunity,” especially in another country
If someone's profile text or emails claim they are not actually in the location their profiles states.
If someone's profile just does not add up (e.g. the picture doesn't match the information)
If a member sends you harassing or offensive emails
If you know married people or minors who are using the service
If you see inappropriate profiles or photos on the site, or if you receive inappropriate photos via email
If a member behaves inappropriately after meeting in person
If a member violates any other DownToEarth.com policy
Tip: Many fraudsters seek men in a very large age range, or men 40-60.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
 

Is DownToEarth.com 100% totally FREE?
Yes! Our site is totally, completely, 100% free. The "payment" you make is contributing to your community by pointing out any inappropriate behavior on our site so we can keep it clean. So if you are ready to find a real, honest relationship, click here to create your profile.

How do I retrieve my password?
To retrieve your password, click on the "Forgot your password?" link in the Sign In box, this will take you to a screen to enter your email or username. Once you have entered the information, you will promptly receive an email containing your password.

What type of photos can I upload?
When uploading photos to your profile, your files should be in a JPEG format, under 3MB in size. If you have a photo that does not fit into these parameters, feel free to send your photo to customerService@DownToEarth.com and we will upload it for you. We are working to accept more file formats, and we will let you know once they are available.

Why was my friend removed?
Users can be removed for any violation of our terms of use. They can be removed for being rude, for posting inappropriate photos, or for (most commonly) creating fake accounts in order to attempt to scam one or more of our members.
We don't provide information about any of our users (removed or not), but you can rest assured that if someone was removed, the account was thoroughly investigated and the proper measures were taken.

Why is the site running so slow for me?
The problem could come from using Internet Explorer 6. If you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7, you'll find that this site and many others work much better. You can do so by going to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx. It will automatically install if you do the "Get Internet Explorer 7 for your operating system" near the bottom left of the page. Let us know if this doesn't fix your issues.

I got rated although I haven’t met anyone in person. What can I do about this?
Email us at customerService@DownToEarth.com. We will review the issue and resolve the situation for you

How do I deactivate my account?
To deactivate your account, click on Account Settings, click the deactivate button and save your settings.
